Carl was riding in a light rail car on the way to the Portland International Airport when someone asked what he did for a living. “I teach executives how to get to the point, and tell stories, so people understand what the hell they’re talking about,” he replied.
The whole car broke up laughing.
It seems everyone has a survival story from a bad presentation. Which is a shame. Because audiences love presenters who get to the point and don’t waste their time.
Carl has spent more than a decade teaching people how to be crisp, clear, and memorable long after they’re done speaking. He’s worked with executives, engineers, and marketing and sales teams at Arc’teryx, Bluetooth, Google, Gore-Tex, Intel, Microsoft, and Sutter Health – as well as with venture capital firms and startup companies in the United States and India. He lives in Seattle with his family and his 17-pound pug, Thor.
